Protests About Protests

Interesting to hear that Joe Jordan, Chair of Belfast Chamber of Commerce thinks that the “Flegs” Debate should have been held in March or April. And as Belfast traders count the costs of the protests, Jordan blames the three parties who “pushed this thru”.

Those three parties would be Sinn Féin, SDLP and…..Alliance.

But on the same UTV news bulletin…..Glyn Roberts from the Independent Retailers did not choose to blame any political party…certainly not Alliance.

Roberts is a non-parliamentary trustee of the Northern Ireland Assembly Business Trust. Am I right in saying Katherine MacDonald of……..Stratagem was a previous trustee?

But is Glyn Roberts the same Glyn Roberts who is a member of the Alliance Party? Is he on the Party’s Executive? Is he the Chair?

  1. Apparently, unionists cannot stop the protests and riots. How any were there when psyco Clinton was here? In fairness to Billy Hutchinson (can’t believe I’ saying that either) he did lay the blame at the feet of the 2 unionist parties, citing the leaflet campaign.

    Paul,

Yes, I though the boul Billy was on the money as well – I heard the remarks thought it was a SF spokesman and rewound the telly(courtesy of Sky) and was delighted to hear it was the Billy. I thought the remark about the DUP putting their addresses was pointed – and something the media should have been battering the DUP(and UUP) over the head with.

    • But interestingly, Marty sought to push it on to (yes, I know they are involved too) loyalist parailitaries. I didn’t hear all of Marty’s comments today but I certainly didn’t hear him give so much as a nod towards the UUP and DUP

It is really an incredible statement from the boy Joe – I suspect his tenure is either coming to an end or will come to an end in the near future.
